November 26 saw over 1,500 Calcuttans create a festive storm at The Backyard as Kolkata International Women’s Club in association with The Backyard put up a great show with their Christmas Bazaar that was in aid of NGOs supported by the club. There were numerous stalls put up by different non-profit organisations as well as regular vendors selling different festive-themed goodies. Apart from the exhibition, there were numerous activities for kids ranging from Santa Claus, to live music, photos with the Xmas tree and numerous food stalls from dining destinations across the city.
“KIWC is a step forward to create a platform for expat women in Calcutta. We support over 10 charities. They are all women and children-oriented and during Christmas Bazaar we give them the platform. We have 52 vendors and half of them are NGOs and they get a platform to sell their products. We also curate the vendors so we make sure that we get good stuff across different genres. It’s basically like a family day out. The Backyard is our main partner this year and besides the venue, they’re also doing children’s activities. The turnout has been great, and we love that the city responded so well,” said Iryna Vikyrchak, president, KIWC.

Little ladies checked out the artsy and delicate fashion jewellery from Her Future Coalition. From charms to chains, rings and bracelets, there were plenty of options.
The food section had an open-air pizza oven by Ristorante Sorano that was dishing out yummy pizzas by the minute and was a hot favourite.
