A couple of Saturdays ago it was all about rock ’n’ roll and the smell of barbecue filling the early winter air at The Bengal Club. The concert, in association with The Telegraph and Sonarpur Tea, was all about groovy music and scrumptious meals. The Jiverz, a retro rock band from the city, set the mood with their tunes and a rush of covers that ended with our favourite — Dire Straits’ Sultans of Swing. The founder, Sayan Mukerji on bass, and members Sucheta Sanyal on vocals, Kushal Kundu (aka Tony) on guitar, Tilak Kundu on drums, Renfred Anderson on the keyboard, Kaushik Sen on congas, and Ricardo Gomes on guitars delivered a performance that moved the audience. Snapshots.

The Bengal Club was vibing to retro rock at the Jiverz concert on the club lawns. The band rocked the evening with their retro numbers and there was music for everyone. A special thanks to our members who attended the evening and made it a success — Dinyar Mucadum, CEO, The Bengal Club

Being an audiophile, I relished the Jiverz, as it’s one of the few bands that puts stress on production quality rather than showcasing individual talent. Undoubtedly one of the best-rehearsed cover bands to be heard in recent times — Kunal Kundu, music director

The appeal of the Jiverz was the four vocalists, performing different genres of music that appealed to many generations of listeners. The mood on the lawn coupled with delicious barbecue dinner made for a perfect early-winter evening. This season, The Bengal Club will be hosting quite a few such unique evenings — Janet Gasper Chowdhury, member of entertainment subcommittee, The Bengal Club
