The Creative Arts Academy (TCAA) and Tanmoy and Bonnya Liberal Arts (Tabla.inc) jointly hosted an evening of music, Anahat Naad (A Musical Collective), on February 3 at the TCAA studio on Sadananda Road, Kalighat, to celebrate the inauguration of a new department of music at TCAA. Through their collaboration, members of Tabla.inc foundation will teach music at TCAA under the guidance of tabla maestro Pandit Tanmoy Bose, who will also serve as the director of the newly launched music department.
The evening’s programme began with an introduction of the music department faculty members of the academy by Pandit Tanmoy Bose. Vidushi Piu Mukherjee presented a semi-classical Chaiti song that enthralled the audience. Soumyadeep Das, a student of Pandit Tanmoy Bose, performed a solo tabla recital in which he played some beautiful traditional compositions based on Teentaal. Swastika Mukherjee, a leading singer of Western vocals, held the audience spellbound with her rendition. “Instruments can be different but the rhythm that is played is the same and is a binding force that connects every musician. It is a golden opportunity for me to be associated with the academy and teach young children under the guidance of Guruji, Pandit Tanmoy Bose,” said Gaurab Chatterjee, faculty, The Creative Arts Academy.
Pandit Tanmoy Bose with The Creative Arts Academy founder-director Ramanjit Kaur. “We are extremely delighted and privileged to have Pandit Tanmoy Bose at the helm of the music department at TCAA. TCAA and Tanmoy and Bonnya Bose’s Tabla.inc have collaborated to create the music department, which will be a unique platform for young enthusiasts where all genres of music will be taught under the tutelage of renowned artists,” said Ramanjit Kaur.

“My vision was to create a space where artists will get holistic exposure. A musician can never be an artist if they do not explore interdisciplinary discourses. As the director of the department of music, I am happy that the Creative Arts Academy is providing such exposure to young minds. With greater minds come greater responsibilities. The faculty members of the Academy are extremely talented, and I am sure that they will be able to guide the youth in a proper direction as most of them are youth icons. It is a moment of great pride for us,” said Pandit Tanmoy Bose, founder-director of Tabla.inc.
“Our task is to promote our age-old legacy in the best possible way. Tabla.inc and the Creative Arts Academy will do it collaboratively. We will make sure that every talented kid will get the proper exposure which helps them to become great performers,” said Bonnya Bose, director of Tabla.inc.
