The Bengal Rowing Club hosted the English Farmer’s Market in association with t2, offering a vibrant afternoon filled with culinary delights and celebrations, on January 7. The event featured gourmet foods representing diverse global cuisines, as well as textile shops showcasing an array of fabrics, ranging from pashmina to organza. Luxury items for home decor added an extra touch of elegance to the market, creating an engaging atmosphere for visitors to explore and enjoy. Highlights.
It was Mexi to Go’s first year at the BRC Farmer’s Market and their burrito wraps and bowls were a big hit. Their Nutella cheesecake deserves a special mention for its creamy rich texture. Soba Sassy was one of the most crowded stalls as they churned out a selection of fresh pizzas, sushis and dumplings.

Naveen Dhatter, chairperson of the BRC entertainment committee, said: “This isn't just an ordinary occasion, the diverse range of cuisines transforms it into something akin to a carnival. Each year, we ensure that we feature top-notch brands selected through an application process. The waiting list grows longer with each passing year, and the response for this year has been exceptionally impressive.”
Manish Rungta, president of BRC, said: “About six years ago, in 2017, the concept for this entire program was conceived, inspired by markets in European cities. Each year, we adopt a different theme, and this year, it is modelled after an English Farmer’s market. The response has been exceptionally positive, and we anticipate a footfall exceeding 2,500 people.”
Sabina Rungta, convenor of the event, said: “I've served as the BRC Farmer's Market convenor for three consecutive years. Each year, our focus is on curating the finest brands. The theme for this year was inspired by English farmer's markets, reminiscent of the renowned Chelsea and Borough markets.”
