The seventh edition of the Jai Balaji Group Kolkata Trail Run, in association with The Telegraph, that took place on November 27 at Ring Road, Godrej Waterside, Sector V, Salt Lake, witnessed an enthralling and picturesque morning abuzz with activity.
The three timed categories included the Kolkata World 10K, Trail 8K, and Endura 5K, where the runners meandered on an all-road route and not trails. The 8km Trails category took runners through the East Kolkata Wetlands, which went through the off-roads of fields, waterbodies, and wetland villages. There was a dedicated play zone for kids at the venue as well. The kids’ category had over 200 young participants who were bubbling with excitement to participate and were overjoyed to receive medals and soft toys as keepsake. Participants warmed up with Zumba to invigorating beats. An expert team of physiotherapists stood at the finish line to assist the runners and enable them to recover faster.
Bharati Gurung, a runner from Gangtok, said, “The event was a super success, and I felt a lot of warmth from the JBG Team. Thank you for an amazing experience, the goodies, and the achiever’s medal. I am looking forward to participating in the forthcoming events.”
According to Nishant Maheshwari, the race coordinator, “In 2016, the debut year of the trail run had drawn only 100 participants, whereas 2022 witnessed close to 3,000 fitness enthusiasts taking part in the challenging and beautiful run. The JBG Kolkata Trail Run is growing in popularity manifold with the constant support and encouragement from Gaurav Jajodia whose has been hands-on in all fitness endeavours.”
