Calcutta Swimming Club hosted Symphony — Chapter 1 in association with The Telegraph, a two-day festival of contemporary, popular music. Designed along the lines of large international music festivals or concerts, it offered a one-of-akind entertainment experience that appealed to the tastes of music lovers of all ages. Organised by the new entertainment committee of the club, this concert besides setting the benchmark for music events at the club at a new height, also marked the first season of a series of music shows that the club plans to arrange in the coming months. The theme for the first day was ‘Electronic Night’ and featured a performance by Lost Stories and DJ Greff from Mumbai. Popular musician duo Sachet and Parampara performed on the second evening along with DJ Peri from Delhi. Snapshots.

“Next time we will try and organise a bigger show with more grandeur, bigger artistes and many more add-ons for total entertainment,” said Aditya Karwa (centre), entertainment convener of the club, seen here with Abhishek Bagaria (left) of the club’s entertainment committee and programme director of Symphony — Chapter 1 Manoj Rathi (right)
Prayag Mehta of the electronic music duo Lost Stories captivated the crowd with his selections on day 1.
Eat, drink and be merry was the byword for this group of young people, who enjoyed their time spent together with generous sips and bites from the food counters set up for the occasion.
“This festival has shown where the club is headed in terms of next-generation entertainment and shows. Not only has it established a new benchmark in the quality of performance but also it is the first time that any club in Calcutta has seen this kind of set-up. Hope to bring in more such shows,” said club president Nitin Dani, seen here with his wife.
“Apart from a fantastic music experience, we also arranged a special pop-up counter from Paharganj, Delhi. The iconic Chola Bhatura from Sitaram Diwanchand was an instant hit with members scrambling for a bite. Our sponsor Zobet and our in-house vendors also ensured that members and guests got superb choices in food and beverages,” said Gaurav and Meghna Chokhany, vice-president and entertainment chairman respectively of Calcutta Swimming Club.
