"Every event we do has a colour theme and for this event, we are wearing grey saris as the colour grey denotes neutrality, sophistication and solitude. After research, we chose this colour which goes very well with today's event. The Swadeshi Movement started right here in Town Hall in 1905 so we had to do this event right here. DNS has 700 members and all the women are very enthusiastic about wearing saris. This event today became more special as our doctor women are joined by their male companions for the celebrations today. This has never happened before as DNS is an all-women group. So it's pretty special today. I hope we will continue to do such beautiful and meaningful events and promote wearing saris and saris made by the local artisans of our country," said Dr Rupali Basu, chairperson of Doctors & Sarees group, Calcutta and CEO of Woodlands Multispecialty Hospital, who also wore a beautiful grey handloom sari with an artisan with a spinning wheel, embroidered in kantha, to support the local artisans.
