It’s the end of a spectacular inning for Story on Elgin Road, which has been the go-to stop for books, stationery and amazing coffee since 2004, first as Crossword and then as Story in 2014. And after almost two decades of success, the landmark in Bhowanipore plans to shift to a new location in Salt Lake.
The two-storeyed store, a haven for bibliophiles, has seen many big launches including late actor Rishi Kapoor’s Khullam Khulla, Chetan Bhagat’s debut book Five Point Someone, Javed Akhtar’s Talking Song and more. Also, while Ruskin Bond has enchanted his young audience here, feted economist Amartya Sen too has discussed his Idea of Justice at Story. And these are just to name a few.
“I started the bookstore when I was in my early 20s and it has been a great entity for me that not only gave me satisfaction in terms of career but at the personal front as well. We have had so many important events here and it’s a bit sad that we are moving out of here but we are looking forward to a new beginning soon,” said Siddharth Pansari, MD, Primark Properties.
Before the store wrapped up its business at Elgin Road, it threw a small party which saw many loyalists in attendance. Here’s a glimpse.
