Taking forward its six-year-old journey, StageCraft Awards 2023 in association with t2 delivered a fitting tribute to the nameless and faceless heroes of the city’s entertainment industry who work hard to make every show a success and without whose efforts no show would be possible. A brainchild of singer Usha Uthup, the annual awards ceremony acknowledges technicians in diverse categories, whose contributions are generally forgotten in a world of glitz and glamour. Held at the magnificent Science City auditorium on September 9, it brought together a galaxy of stars of the stage and screen from all across the country who wholeheartedly joined in to honour these backstage superheroes. Power-packed performances from Tolly actors Rituparna Sengupta, Bonny Sengupta, young Sufi music sensation Baabarr Mudacer and popular contemporary artistes like Iman Chakraborty and Amit Mishra, along with Usha Uthup, added to its many memorable moments. Snapshots from an evening of awards and extravaganza.

“It was an outstanding show, the credit for which must be shared by the entire StageCraft team, specially Anil Kuriakose, Gautam Jain, Dibyendu Lahiri and Shiladitya Chaudhury. I also thank the Ministry of Culture for supporting this endeavour and of course, all our sponsors without whose generosity we could never have put up a show of this magnitude. I have always believed in doing things well and for that, there can be no short-cuts. The team has worked hard and the results speak for themselves. It was a fabulous experience and I hope we continue to surpass the benchmark that we have set for ourselves,” a satisfied Usha Uthup said after the event.
