St. Catherine’s Home celebrated Diwali of Hearts for its 100 senior citizen members recently. The event took place in the auditorium of St. Paul’s Boarding & Day School. The evening witnessed distinguished guests like Sister Rosli and Sister Rina of Daughters of the Cross, percussionist Bickram Ghosh, actress Jaya Seal Ghosh, ex-student of Daughters of the Cross Gurbir Kaur Ahluwalia and artist Swagata Bose, among others. Filmmaker Indira Dhar Mukkherjee, whose film Green Window was based on life at St. Catherine’s Home, was one of the people instrumental in putting together the event.
The show opened with a charming classical tabla performance by Aarav Ghosh, son of Bickram and Jaya Seal Ghosh. The prodigy’s performance was followed by an eclectic dance performance by Priyanka-Debarati dance troupe. The evening closed on an appreciative note as gifts were distributed to all the ladies of St. Catherine’s Home by the Club of Benevolence and Yogita Kichlu Welfare Trust. Sky lanterns with names of the members of the old-age homes were released into the sky. The field of St. Paul’s Boarding & Day School lit up this Diwali as the residents of the home participated wholeheartedly with eyes full of warmth and hearts filled with gratitude.
