Paw Community (a community for pet parents and dog lovers) organised the Paw Paw Event 2.0 at pet-friendly café Hugo & Finn at Little Russel Street on October 2 to follow up on the first season, held on September 10. It’s always a good time to have pet parents gather and ensure their pooches socialise and go back home happy. With the paw-tapping noises, jolly wags, furry love and lots of wet boops on your nose, the four-legged buddies enjoyed themselves to the fullest with tasty treats on their platters and lots of other woofer friends they met to enjoy some gossip from the bark world.

“I’ve recently adopted a fur baby; he’s only four months old as of now. When I adopted him, I felt like there was no friend around him and no place in the city where he could make new friends. As a new pet parent, I didn’t always understand what he was trying to tell me. I also wanted some pet parents around me to seek guidance and to enjoy the company of other fur babies,” said co-founder Rounak Das.

“I’m a passionate pet lover, and I used to feed stray dogs around my complex almost every day. When Rounak brought his fur baby, I started visiting every day to play with him and spend time, helping him adjust to his new home. I completely agree with Rounak that in our city, there are very few opportunities to create a friendly environment for pets, and resources are also limited. That’s why we started organising Paw Community events — to bring like-minded pet parents together to have fun, spend quality time, and engage in paw-some activities,” said co-founder Satabdi Roy.

“Paw Community is a passion project for me. As an empathetic human being, I feel for animals who spend lonely hours at home when their parents are away at work or have busy schedules. It’s not just about our pets but also about the strays who don’t receive care and attention.

We’re simply trying to create a friendlier environment for them through this small initiative in the City of Joy. Our aim is to encourage others to adopt strays and give them a good life,” said co-founder Sayan Banik.

“It was definitely a Page 3 kind of party for our furry buddies,” said Suman Mukherjee, while striking a pose with his daughter Toshani and fur baby Sparkle.

“I’m so happy that there are initiatives like this to indulge our paw babies,” said pet Happy Gupta’s mother Mala Gupta.
