The breeze from the Hooghly had a certain nip to it, but inside CSC was an air brimming with energy, anticipation and warmth at the Chivas Glassware Presents The Telegraph The Calcutta Swimming Club 31st Nite. The stage was graced by the high-ocatne Sufi-fusion act Humsufi, and DJ Bunny threaded together the party faves to heat up the dance floor. The F&B choices also contributed to the mood of the evening, as the guests sipped and took a bite vibing to the intoxicating spell of Sufi-fusion music, while ushering in the New Year.

Midnight moment

With Humsufi on stage, lights beaming down, and fireworks lighting the place up, CSC counted down to the midnight hour as the place erupted in unbridled joy and euphoria, shouting it out and welcoming 2023 with an absolute bang.

While Humsufi led the chants, people on the dance floor embraced each other and the moment, hoping for a better year, leaving all the dark days behind. “The already enthralled crowd was waiting for the clock to strike 12 and they ushered in the New Year in style. There were toasts raised and the area around the dance floor was also packed to accomodate the revelry, which continued till the wee hours,” said Dipak Kumar Agarwal, entertainment co-chairman and committee member, CSC, describing the moment that CSC experienced with all the club members and the guests coming together.

The club premises were all decked up to usher in the New Year with shimmering decor lining up the walls. The photo corner was an absolute favourite, with people crowding near the booth to capture their friends and family in frames. The way the CSC premises were lit up also contributed to the mood of the cosy evening which morphed into an energetic one as it neared midnight.

Music defined the evening as Humsufi tuned the mood to absolute perfection as they blasted their renditions of hit number like ‘Lut Gaye,’ ‘Pasoori,’ ‘Sochta hoon,’ ‘Sawan mein lag gayi aag,’ et al and made the crowd dance, clap and vibe.

It was the third time that Humsufi took to the CSC stafe on 31st night and they made sure it was a memorable one, after a gap of two years which saw the celebrations being suspended owining to the pandemic.

Providing the perfect end to the night was DJ Bunny who got the crowd grooving late into the night was hit Bollywood tracks. The dance floor got crowded as the evening rolled on, with people coming together to dance their hearts out, ushering in 2023 with unhindered positive vibes.

“I enjoyed my 31st night at CSC to the fullest and I always prefer styling it my own way with my own designs, and a fit from my own boutique,” said Priyanka Basu looking pretty in a blingy top with purple pants.

“Sufi music played by the band was soulful and enchanting. The entire setting looked beautiful. When we took to the dance floor it literally felt as though we were dancing under the stars with moonlight shining upon us. Lovely evening,” said Gautam and Ayushi Bardia.

From kebabs to salads, appetisers like chilli potato, steamed momos, cheese sticks and main course options in North Indian, Chinese and South Indian along the lines of biryani, pulao, dal makhani, sarson da saag, mutton rogan josh, noodles, chicken manchurian, dosa et al.
