That indie music singer Anuv Jain is popular is common knowledge but one has to attend his concert to get an idea of the craze that he is among Gen Z. I got a taste of the love and admiration people have for him, during the Calcutta leg of his Guldasta India Tour that was held at Calcutta Boating & Hotel Resorts (Orchid Banquet) on December 2.

Fans got a closer glimpse of the singer when he sang Mazak. “For this song I want to come ahead and be with you guys. Can I sit here, is it okay?” asked Anuv and the crowd shrieked their lungs out, out of excitement. “This one is a song that I had written for someone very special and whenever I look at her, her smile reminds me of the crescent moon... it looks like the smile. This song is very special to me, agar aata hai then sing along,” said Anuv

With singers Amir Rizvi and Shaktay warming up the crowd with their songs, Anuv Jain got on the stage wearing a black jacket, trousers, guitar in his hands, armed with that smile of his that was sending the girls in the audience in a tizzy. Riha was the first song he opened his performance with. “Hi Calcutta, how are you guys doin'? I am going to introduce myself, my name is Anuv Jain and I am a singer-songwriter from Ludhiana, Punjab, and I officially welcome you guys to my all-India Tour. How are you feeling tonight? Excited? How is the energy looking? I am going to be honest with you, as you know, I released a song (Husn) yesterday and as you might know, things get very hectic when you are releasing music so I am going to feed off your energy to get through the entire set. So give me some more noise,” he said and the crowd obliged for the next 90 minutes. While some were left moist-eyed when he sang Maula, a song he had written for his sister when they lost their father a few years back, or sang out loud when he performed Baarishein, the concert was high on emotions for both Anuv and his fans.
