Scottish Dance Theatre to kick off debut India tour with ‘Artist Diaries’ at Glenburn

Scottish Dance Theatre’s Solène Weinachter in the preview of ‘Antigone, Interrupted’

Members of Scottish Dance Theatre, Scotland’s foremost contemporary dance ensemble, will begin their debut India tour with a chat on the inspiration and creative process behind their latest production, Antigone, Interrupted, at The Glenburn Penthouse on December 2.

Solène Weinachter, associate artiste of Scottish Dance Theatre, and rehearsal director Katye Coe will be in conversation with in conversation with Ruchira Das, director of arts, British Council India, as part of Artist Diaries: Edition 1:1 in association with My Kolkata. The event is a collaborative effort between the Glenburn Culture Club and Pickle Factory Dance Foundation.

This chat, the inaugural session of Artist Diaries, will cover both Weinachter and Coe’s work in the Scottish Dance Theatre along with the company’s history. They will shed light on the inspiration and creative process behind their latest production Antigone, Interrupted and dive into how the artistes’ concerns about the contemporary world inform the artworks they make.

Established in 1986 as a grassroots community company, Scottish Dance Theatre has evolved into Scotland’s foremost contemporary dance ensemble. Rooted in the vibrant city of Dundee in northeast Scotland, they actively collaborate with artistes from diverse global backgrounds, showcasing their performances in a spectrum of settings.

The session will be followed by a wine and cheese showcase by Fratelli, where the selection will feature the Gran Cuvee Brut, master selection of red wine with Sangiovese Leaf Aged Cheddar, master selection of white wine with Chenin Rinsed Sunburst, and master selection of rose.

Before the session, Solène Weinachter and Katye Coe will also host a masterclass which will include physical and vocal warm-up before diving into some of the themes of their work.
