“Andre Garcia is known as the Rolls Royce of cigar cases worldwide. In India, we are the first to make cigar cases; I have a patent for that. Carrying the passion forward, we created a special range of cigars only for the people of India. Those cigars are currently appreciated by Taj Palaces and we also wish to go mainstream. Today’s event is about Calcutta’s cigar collection. My brother and I named the company Andre Garcia as ‘Andre’ is a common name in Europe and ‘Garcia’ after the American Battleship, Diego Garcia,” said Abhik Roy, owner of Andre Garcia (right). “We at Taj Bengal have always looked at creating memories for our esteemed guests and are extremely happy to collaborate with Andre Garcia cigars and Abhik to create this bespoke event for the guests,” said Arnab Chatterjee, hotel manager of Taj Bengal.

The Chambers at Taj Bengal, the exclusive business club of Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), has introduced a series called Rendezvous that will provide a platform for intimate and curated conversations, cocktails and more for the members and guests. The Rendezvous is designed to engage and entertain and focus on creating bespoke experiences that are unique and niche. Filmmaker Sandip Ray joined the conversation in Rendezvous at The Chambers. He made the atmosphere nostalgic as he shared happy memories of his father Satyajit Ray from behind the scenes of Nayak. He said, “I’m really enjoying the evening and the atmosphere is wonderful. I’m not a cigar man, but my father would have appreciated Andre Garcia’s cigars.”
