St.Joseph’s College Old Boys Association (SJCOBA) organised the 19th Annual Reunion Dinner, in association with The Telegraph, at the St. Joseph’s College school grounds on January 14.
An air of nostalgia prevailed all over the school campus as ex-Josephytes from the batches of 1965 to the most recent batch of 2022 came together to celebrate their bond and relive memories. The event commenced with an award ceremony where alumni members were honoured and felicitated for their noteworthy achievements and contributions to society. The ex-students celebrated old bonds and recapitulated fond memories of their school days over some energetic musical performances by Christian Lobo and Kaif Khan. The melodious performances were followed by a delish dinner from Baig Sahab. Snapshots:

“I am here after 30 years and I do not think that this feeling can be explained in words. Reliving everything, especially the pranks I pulled with my friends has been very nostalgic for me,” said Viral Thakkar, batch of 1995, who came all the way from Chicago to attend the reunion.
“We owe so much to St. Joseph’s College for making us who we are today and it is always wonderful to come back and meet people you have not seen in years. We are all very proud of the values that the school has inculcated in us, especially studying under the Irish Christian Brothers has taught us to give to the society and not to count the cost. These values have taken us a long way,” said Imran Zaki, batch of 1989.
Performances by Christian Lobo and Kaif Khan kept the audience up on their feet all evening as they grooved to Bollywood and English chartbusters and foot-tapping numbers.
Shazia Anis (centre), associate life member of SJCOBA, received the honorary award and posed with Nupur Majumdar (left), first associate life member and Br. Adolph Pinto, principal of St. Joseph’s College.
Pradip Majumdar (second from right), minister of Panchayat and Rural Development of Government of West Bengal, was felicitated by (l-r) Imran Zaki, Satyajit Bose and Br. Adolph Pinto of SJCOBA.
(L-R) Arnab Law, Indrasish Kundu, Arpan Bose and Indrayudh Kundu posed for a frame-worthy picture. “We are overwhelmed with nostalgia after seeing the school ground, classrooms and the buildings where we spent such a great part of our lives,” said Arnab
“I have never missed any of the reunions for the sole reason that I get to see my old students again,” said Sandra Fernandes, who taught at St. Joseph’s for 37 years. She posed with exprincipal Jayati Banerjee. “I have worked here for over 24 years and today I am absolutely elated to find students from my first batch to the most recent ones in attendance,” said Jayati.

“Back in school we used to say ‘Josephyte Dynamite’ while cheering for our school at competitions. I feel that same zeal and energy here today. Whatever we learnt from school, we have applied it in the real world and now it is time to give back to our alma mater,” said Rehan Waris, batch of 1997.
From the batch of 2021 (l-r) Shuddhasil Chaki, Anish Das, Akaash Dutta, Anubhab Karmakar, Abir Chakrabarti, Joydeep Mukherjee, Swapnayan Bal, Rishab Deb and Debnil Hazra took a trip down memory lane after sitting on their old school benches.
