Notwithstanding the sweltering heat which kept most indoors, The Dalhousie Institute celebrated Poila Baisakh with traditional style and fervour. Artistic alponas greeted guests as they arrived dressed in their ethnic best. Banjara Notes, a popular multilingual band, belted out one popular number after the other. Skillfully moving from one language to another, the band kept the audience on the dance floor with their foot-tapping numbers.

A delicious buffet lunch with popular traditional Bengali dishes had been laid out for the special occasion. Members enjoyed the elaborate menu with their family and friends, relishing each dish, be it prawns, fish fry or mutton or other sumptuous offerings like paneer, kofta and vegetable chops, that were much in demand as well.

Members and guests also spent a wonderful time at the club, catching up and relaxing in the company of loved ones while welcoming the Bengali New Year with customary gaiety, good cheer and togetherness. Glimpses.
