POETRY SESSION:
On May 19, Kalamandir saw a recitation of the poem Karna Kunti Sambad, which chronicles the conversation between Karna and Kunti in The Mahabharata. This poem is considered to be an apt representation of the complicated relationships and moral difficulties that the characters of The Mahabharata often have undergone. The poem was recited by illustrious elocution artist Bratati Bandhopadhay and Ketan Sengupta, managing director and CEO of Bengal Peerless. Singer Raghab Chatterjee came up with new songs in Bengali which accompanied the recitation beautifully, and Mudra, a prominent dance group, presented “Draupadi dance forms”.
When asked about his feelings on the poem, Sengupta said: “The Karna Kunti Sambad is a powerful example of the moral dilemmas and difficult decisions that are portrayed in The Mahabharata.” Bandhopadhay said: “The Karna Kunti Sambad is a powerful example of the moral dilemmas and difficult decisions that are portrayed in The Mahabharata.”
The event also paid their respects to veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee who had previously performed the poem with Bandyopadhyay.
