An evening of music will mark 25 years of singer Manomay Bhattacharya’s career. Pochis Periye…Manomay, organised by Behala Sanskritik Sammilani, will be held at Rabindra Sadan on April 30, from 6pm. My Kolkata is the digital media partner for the event.
The singer will be in conversation with poet Srijato Bandyopadhyay, tracing his musical journey, during the two-and-a-half-hour-long programme.
"Behala Sanskritik Sammilani has been organising various such cultural programmes every year. This year, we chose to celebrate the journey of our very own Behala boy’s musical career. He completed 25 years in 2020 but the celebrations were thwarted because of the pandemic,” said Sandipan Banerjee, secretary of Behala Sanskritik Sammilani.
Behala Sanskritik Sammilani has earlier organised events to celebrate the journey of various Bengali artistes such as Sraboni Sen, Rupankar Bagchi, Aditi Munshi, Lopamudra Mitra, Jayati Chakraborty. The organisation also hosts an annual classical music programme.
Sunday’s programme will highlight various phases of the singer's life. From singing Bengali and Hindi hit numbers like Sajani sajani, Ore mon, Maa go tui to his first single. The singer will also share his experiences, ups and downs. The singer is expected to perform too.
