Oxford Bookstore recently announced the longlist of the 10th edition of the Book Cover Prize at The Park in New Delhi. The list showcases 26 book covers across various genres. Author and the Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor, jury chair and museum curator Alka Pande along with jurors authors Shobhaa De and Kunal Basu, and guest jurors installation artist Samar Jodha and director, information services of South Asia Goethe-Institut, Anja Riedeberger, announced the names.
The longlist has works of Indian graphic designers like Bena Sareen for Rimli Sengupta’s book A Lost People's Archive: A Novel, Ujjwal Ghosh for Prasenjit Dasgupta’s Chronicle of an Hour and a Half, Sharanya Kunnath for Sreelata Menon’s Epicurious, Pinaki De for Kunal Basu’s Filmi Stories, Kawshik Aki for Samantak Das, Gautam Gupta, Sugata Hazra’s Shifting Lands, Moving People: Livelihood, Migration, Climate Change and Natural Disasters in the Indian Sundarbans, to name a few.
The announcement followed with a discussion between Shashi Tharoor and author and journalist Marya Shakil on Tharoor’s upcoming book A Wonderland of Words. The book has been published by Aleph Book Company.
The shortlisted book covers from the longlist will be announced at the Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival (AKLF). The literary festival is scheduled to happen from January 10 to 12, 2025. The winner of the award will be announced in March 2025 in Delhi.
