On January 13, Nuvam and Round Table India in association with t2 organised the annual Light a Smile fete at The Heritage School. The venue brimmed with the smiles of more than 3,500 underprivileged children from about 40 different NGOs in the city. While DJ Akash Rohira’s music, dance performances by Amit & Dorothy troupe, and live singing by Kamran Khurshid made them all sway and shake a leg, tattoo counters, cotton candy stalls, sumptuous bites and a slew of games kept the young guests extremely happy. In its ninth year, one of the largest carnivals of its kind for underprivileged kids in the city, it witnessed the participation of kids between five and 12 years. Glimpses of the fun fest.
The cheesy pizza was the children’s favourite out of all the items in the lunchbox
“Dorothy and I have been associated with Light a Smile for nine years now and it’s a great experience coming back. The energy and vibe we get from the kids is a blessing. We get inspired every year to do better. Thanks to the organisers for such a beautiful initiative,” said Amit of DNA Danceworks as they encouraged the children to dance to Abhi toh party shuru hui hai and Makhna.
“I’ve been a part of Light A Smile since the first edition in 2013 and it’s a great feeling to now have over 3,500 kids associated with it. I love performing for this wonderful cause and especially the love I get from these kids is beyond compare,” said singer Kamran Khurshid who entertained the children with his renditions of popular Bollywood numbers.
DJ Akash Rohira had a special mix for the kids. He said, “It’s a very different experience to perform for these special kids. The energy, and the love is to die for. This event started with 200 kids and now it’s 3,500 kids and I am happy and blessed to be a part of this great journey. The best part is these kids never want the party to stop.
