SEASON OF GIVING:
The festive season continues to spread its joy. Amidst the joyous bustle of festivities, Nirmaan BD Bangur Endowment recognised the need of the hour and curated a unique shopping experience for the underprivileged. The non-profit brought smiles on the faces of over 1,100 people on the 10th edition of its pre-Diwali Garage sale. The initiative was commenced by the young visionary Siddhant Bangur who turned his college application into a lifelong mission and created an empowering experience for the underprivileged.
Nirmaan organised their much-awaited “shopping mall experience” for the season of lights in the form of a shopping pop-up for slum-dwellers in Andul. People had the liberty to select items of their choice. The sale witnessed donations in the form of unused, pre-loved items ranging from clothes, footwear, household utilities, furnishing, utensils, books, toys and more. This endeavour also aligns with Nirmaan’s eco-friendly goals by recycling and repurposing pre-owned possessions.
“Organising the Garage Sale brings a profound sense of fulfilment and happiness. The joy of witnessing the smiles on the faces of those we can support is invaluable. The endeavour is a testament to the power of kindness, showing that even the simplest acts of giving can have immeasurable impact. It’s a reminder that meaningful journeys often begin with spontaneous thoughts and a desire to make the world a little brighter,” said Manju Bangur, a social crusader and the managing trustee at Nirmaan. Over the last few years, Nirmaan’s annual drive for a cause has received widespread appreciation from both local businesses and retail giants like Amazon. ITC Royal Bengal and ITC Sonar were among notable contributors in the 10th edition of this charitable venture.
