The fashion communication department of NIFT Kolkata recently celebrated its graduation show COMDOM (communication domain) for the batch of 2019-23, at City Centre Salt Lake. Thirty-nine graduates showcased the projects that they had undertaken in various fashion communication industries over 14 weeks. The array of projects by the graduating students ranged from extensive research to practical UI-UX solutions. The graduates were from a variety of programmes like styling, content writing and photography, among others. The industry mentors and the department faculty members of the college who guided the students included Sreenanda Palit, Nagma Sahi Ansari, Pompy Paul, Piu Sarkar and Anjali Gupta.
This placement season, the college has recorded attractive job offers from companies like Nobero, Blue Pintale, Senco Gold, Design Smith, Smart Interviews, Ollypop and Buffalo Soldiers.
Communication pro Jeena Mitra Banik was present at the graduation ceremony as the special guest and inaugurated the function along with Rajesh Kumar Jha, campus director of NIFT Kolkata, and Brijesh Deore, joint director, NIFT Kolkata.
Swarup Dutta, Meenakshi Sengupta and Abhijit Paul took part in a talk show “Connecting Pathways” that followed shortly after the project exhibition by the graduating students.
The fashion communication programme of the college is primarily focused on graphic design, space design, fashion media and fashion thinking and related genres, using a more application-oriented approach while providing hands-on training to help develop digital skills.
