Naveen Rathi wins big at the IGU Eastern India Junior Boys Golf Championship

More than 100 golfers took to RCGC to showcase their skills at the latest IGU event

The IGU Eastern India Junior Boys Golf Championship 2023 was held at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) between May 2 and 5. One of the country’s most competitive junior golf tournaments for boys, the championship featured 103 participants this year, with most of them competing across four rounds, except for the boys in the C (below 13 years) category, who had three rounds of golf.

Naveen Rathi of Haryana captured the championship title with a score of 291 in four rounds of golf. Arjun Singh Bhatia of Haryana finished second on count back (better final round) and Delhi's Rakhit Dahiya finished third (294) in A Category Boys. Kartik Singh of Haryana won the B Category Boys’ title with a score of 295 in four rounds, and Anshul Mishra of West Bengal finished second with 300.

Anshul finished second on a count-back basis, as he had a better final round than Delhi’s Ranveer Mitroo, who finished third. Punjab’s Arjun Veer Shishir won the C Category Boys title with a score of 217 in three rounds, West Bengal's Varish Mohta finished second with 228 (better final round score) and Arihaan Beri from Uttar Pradesh finished third.

The prizes were presented to the winners by RCGC golf captain Rohan Ghosh, RCGC CEO Devrishi Singhal, RCGC golf convener Ranjit Singh, and Indian Golf Union tournament director Paramjit Singh.
