"I never participated to win, my intention was to learn new things and acquire knowledge. Honestly, I didn't know I could win and I thank the other team members and Ushoshi ma'am for it. I learnt a lot of things including how one should present oneself on the stage, the confidence that should be carried and exuded and much more," said Sohana who just completed her graduation from Jalpaiguri AC College of Commerce and is preparing for competitive exams. Siliguri girl Jayshree who has participated in a few pagaents earlier is ecstatic of her win. She said, "I have participated in a lot of pageants but ultimately won here, thanks to everyone who guided me. As I said in the Q&A round, I want to be a successful model and get into acting."

A total of 400 women from North Bengal participated in Uttar-er Ananya — the hunt for women extraordinaire, organised by MPJ Jewellers in association with Anandabazar Patrika. Out of the 400, 10 were selected for the grand finale hosted on August 20 at the Royal Sarovar Portico, Siliguri. The finalists showcased their confidence, elegance and intelligence on the stage in different categories including the Eastern Wear and Western Wear rounds. A Q&A round also judged their mettle for the coveted pageant. The participants were groomed by supermodel and actress Ushoshi Sengupta.
