An evening of soulful melodies and captivating performances made up Malhaar in association with t2, which was held at Hyatt Regency Kolkata on July 8. The city’s treasured musical duo Sourendro-Soumyojit, and dancer and choreographer, Sudarshan Chakravorty came together to present the evening along with Debjani Roy, director of Deeroi. The event was the perfect blend of music, dance, and good food — the holy trinity after every Bengali’s heart. The event drew an attendance of 350 people.

The beginning of rain in the city marks festivity and nostalgia for all Calcuttans. Sudarshan Chakravorty took this theme and presented the a spectacular show, journeying across all the seasons of India. The dancers painted vivid pictures of nature’s dance in the downpour, the delicate blooms of spring to the vivacity of summer. “For me as a child, I could just look up and know the seasons, that are now missing. In this ecological crisis, this production reminds us of the seasons we are losing,” said Sudarshan. The show was not only aesthetically mesmerising but also served a message for the audience. He described the form as “modern contemporary with Indian aesthetics”.
