The badshah was back in his box on Thursday night at Eden Gardens, cheering for his Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as they took the fight to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the inaugural home game of the season and the first one in our city in four years. Looking sporty-cool in a hoodie, joggers, purple sneakers, signature shades and a chunky watch, Shah Rukh Khan was the magnet in his B1 box. Like always. Waves, kisses. Gratitude. Like always.
And, what a splendid homecoming he remained witness to! A brilliant 68 of 29 balls by Shardul Thakur and a 103-run partnership between him and Rinku Singh pitchforked the Knight’s score to a match-winning 204. The bowlers--- Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy and debutant Suyash Sharma--- pitched in with timely scalps to decimate RCB to 123.
