CBSE exams from February 15

The 2025 board exams for classes X and XII will begin on February 15, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced on Wednesday. In a notification, the board announced that the Class X exams will conclude on March 18 and the Class XII exams on April 4. This is the first time the schedule has been issued by the board so many days in advance. “The date sheet has been carefully prepared keeping in mind at least 40,000 subject combinations to ensure that no two subjects… fall on the same date,” the CBSE exam controller, Sanyam Bhardwaj, said. Low pressure

A cyclonic circulation over the Andaman Sea is likely to intensify into a depression by November 23, the Met office has said. "Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining the north Andaman Sea around November 21...," said a statement issued by the India Meteorological Department.

A Met official in Kolkata said the system is unlikely to have much impact in south Bengal. "...if the system extends up to the higher reaches of the atmosphere, it can send moisture into south Bengal. The flow of northwesterly winds can then get affected, leading to a rise in the Celsius," he said

Sea exercise

The Indian Navy, along with the Indian Coast Guard and other government agencies, started Sea Vigil 2024 on Wednesday to improve coordination among them. As part of the exercise, the fast interceptor crafts (FIC) of the navy and patrol vessels of the coast guard were deployed in the Hooghly. Cadets from the National Cadet Corps (NCC) are also taking part in the river patrolling. The drill began with a high-level briefing and meeting at the Joint Coordination Centre of the Maritime Operations Centre in Kolkata.
