Economist Amiya Bagchi dead
Economist Amiya Kumar Bagchi passed away on Thursday evening. He was 88. Bagchi was suffering from age-related complications. A Presidency University official said his academic career began when he started teaching in the erstwhile Presidency College. In the 1960s, Bagchi taught in the economics faculty of Cambridge University but he resigned in 1969 to resume teaching in Presidency College.
