KCC, Thai consulate organise book handover ceremony

Event encourages cultural exchange and helps city book lovers

The Kolkata Centre for Creativity and The Royal Thai Consulate-General commemorated the ‘Global Media and Information Literacy Week’ by jointly hosting a book handover ceremony on October 31 at the KCC’s library area.

Richa Agarwal, chairperson, KCC; Reena Dewan, director, KCC; Acharapan Yavaprapas, consul-general of Thailand, and other distinguished guests participated in the event.

Richa Agarwal said, “It brings me immense pleasure that Kolkata Centre for Creativity and The Royal Thai Consulate-General commemorated ‘Global Media and Information Literacy Week’ through a book handover ceremony. This donation of books from The Royal Thai Consulate-General to our library is a major step in encouraging the exchange of cultural values and learning which will be of immense help to avid book lovers in the city and will aid in the mitigation of difficulties arising out of and associated with misinformation and a lack of information.”

The ‘Global Media and Information Literacy Week’ is observed to evaluate and celebrate the journey towards a world where everyone has access to media and information literacy which ultimately makes it easier to continue learning inside and outside classrooms.
