Five Mad Men in collaboration with Aniruddha Mukhopadhyay, Soham Dey, Rupsha Sen of Moonrivers and drummer Sambit Chatterjee, recently organised BIGHORN feat. Luke Holland and Jason Richardson. The duo was on their India tour and mesmerised the Calcutta crowd with some of their leading progressive metal numbers like Tendinitis, Fragments, Retrograde, Omni, Hos Down, Titan, Mirrors, Ishimura and Upside Down, among others.
The virtuoso American musicians — Jason Richardson (guitarist) and Luke Holland (drummer) — are one of the most sought-after duos in the world. They set out on their India tour last month and Five Mad Men hosted them with a bash in Calcutta. While Luke is known for his impeccable technique and charming showmanship, Jason is skilled at fusing elements like jazz, metal and classical music. They connected with the audience with their mesmerising and awe-inspiring tunes. It was a one-of-a-kind gig that the music enthusiasts enjoyed to the fullest. Apart from the music, there were Five Mad Men’s signature cocktails and a platter of a sumptuous buffet.

The crowd at Five Mad Men
“We were super happy to host the famous international artistes, Luke Holland and Jason Richardson at Five Mad Men. It was the second international gig we hosted after the Artistocrats. We’ve been overwhelmed by the tremendous response from music lovers of Calcutta who take a keen interest in alternate genres. I’m glad we found a permanent place in the hearts of Calcutta music lovers and established 5MM as the coolest spot for gigs. Here’s a special mention for Moonrivers — despite being new event organisers, they took a leap to bring international artistes to the city and that was great,” said Sayan Roy, co-owner of Five Mad Men.
Rupsha and Soham “It’s been a rollercoaster ride of brainstorming, planning, solving crises, which always come however much you plan... and getting to experience world-class artistes as organisers and music enthusiasts was amazing. The aim was to give this niche crowd of Calcutta something they don’t get often and the smiles on everyone’s faces and the posts and gratitude that followed after the concert made us feel at peace to know we did what we set out to do,” said Team Moonrivers x SambitC.
