“Do we have some dog lovers, pet lovers in the house? This is a song for them because it features a piece of my heart, my pet dog, if you have seen the video... the song is called Nit nit, so sing along if you know the song,” said Jasleen as she crooned the heartfelt track.

Jasleen! Jasleen!” the chant had filled a packed Roots on Chowringhee where singer Jasleen Royal was performing. The event held in association with t2 recently turned out to be a magical musical night as the Bollywood singer enthralled the audience with her voice.

Kick-starting with Ranjha, the singer who looked pretty in a metallic iridescent mini dress, sang a bouquet of her songs. “Thank you so much! My heart is genuinely really, really full of love, it's so full of love and beating so fast that I want you to listen to my heartbeat. I love you guys!” she said right before singing Heeriye. She also went on to sing some of her soulful tracks like Kho gaye hum kahan and Nit nit.

From melodious tracks to groovy numbers, Jasleen's songlist was balanced. It was loved by the crowd at Roots and the party experience was elevated with cold showers, Co2 guns and more.

“The show was really good. I haven’t been to Calcutta too many times but I always love coming here and the crowd I feel they love music so it is always a good feeling. Also, I had a good egg roll in the morning and it was so yum! You know I try to make those Calcutta egg rolls at home but it's not the same,” gushed the singer post her gig exclusively to t2.

SHE SANG...

Jasleen also sang Preet that got the crowd in a somber mood. "This is my first song that I sang for a Bollywood film and I am very surprised to see this getting so much love in Reels recently after all these years. If you know this song, sing along," she said and the crowd obliged.

Confetti showers filled the venue when Heeriye was performed by the singer and the crowd sang along. Out came the phones for the perfect Instagram Story!

ORGANISERS SPEAK

“December is the month of celebration and we are all geared up to offer one memorable night after the other to our patrons. Last time we had Arjun Rampal, then we wanted Jasleen Royal as she is an exceptionally good singer. Ranjha and Heeriye are blockbuster hits and the crowd had a super time. We have just completed one year and our quest is to provide our patrons with the most memorable times at Roots,” said husband-wife duo Ramesh and Jyoti Agarwal who co-own the nightclub with Karnesh Sethia.

“My sister Maitrayee took me out for the concert as a part of my birthday celebration. This was the first time I was watching her perform and it was fabulous and we had a great sister time together watching our favourite singer perform. My favourite moment from the night was when she sang Sang rahiyo,” said Gargi Datta, an IT professional (in purple).

(From left) (L-R) Khyati Sethia with her mom Sunita had a blast. “We had so much fun because Roots just completed one year and watching Jasleen Royal perform was fantastic. My most favourite moment was when she sang Heeriye,” said Khyati who later met Jasleen post her gig.

Kirti Mehta wanted to make it a special night for wife Richa, and what better than to bring her to party and watch Jasleen Royal perform? "It's my wife's birthday tonight and I wanted her to have the best time. We have come with friends and thoroughly enjoyed Jasleen's performance. Her voice is super versatile," said Kirti, director of event company RKM Weddings.

For Anshu Agarwal (left) it was a December to remember because she saw her favourite singer Jasleen Royal perform live for the first time. “I am a big fan of Jasleen and I have loved Preet, her very first song in Khoobsurat. Over the years, she has got more popular dishing out one hit after the other. Ever since her concert was announced I was eagerly waiting to know the venue and when it was declared Roots, we had to attend it. My kids love her songs too but, unfortunately, they couldn’t join this time. I would say I love how she looks petite like me but then delivers such a powerful performance. We had a great time and I only wished it would last longer,” said Anshu who was spotted with her friend Divya Maheshwari.
