For effective crowd and traffic management especially during Durga Puja, six sergeants of the Kolkata Traffic Police were felicitated by the Indo-British Scholars’ Association (IBSA) on Saturday at the Limelight Police Building.

Mementoes, certificates and medals were handed over to them in the presence of the deputy commissioner (traffic), S K Yadav, and DC, TP (south), Y Srikant Jagannath Rao, along with the IBSA president Subrata Paul. IBSA’s former president, Sandip Chatterjee, was also present.

“Even as six traffic sergeants were honoured, the department collectively feels elated. The department had meticulously planned for the grand festive season and its personnel worked day and night. These awards are actually for each and every personnel who sacrificed their personal happiness to make the festive season a grand success,” said DCP Yadav.

This year, the IBSA hosted the fourth edition of its flagship event. The first two editions in 2018 and 2019 were initiated under the leadership of IBSA’s former presidents Dr Sandip Chatterjee and Rajiv Kaul. “We are proud and privileged to organise this event for Kolkata Traffic Police for their yeoman service during Durga Puja, Kali Puja and Diwali. This is an effort to recognise their immense contribution and support during the festivities,” said Subrata Paul, IBSA president.
