About 40 participants, including amateur photographers and budding nature photography enthusiasts, took part in the two-day event. They came from all around Kolkata and Hooghly, Singur, Barasat, Behala, Nagerbazar, Baguiati and more. Spotted, and captured through their lens, were birds like cormorants, Baya Weavers, Red Vented Bulbuls, woodpeckers, kingfishers and more

Sushil Mohta, chairman, Merlin Group, said the initiative on conservation of nature had received good response. ‘We hope to continue next year also at a time when a lot of migratory birds will be there.’ Participants submitted photographs in five categories — Landscape: Co-existence of man and nature, Macro: The minute beauty of nature, Birds: Their habits and habitat, Flora & Fauna, and Life in Action. Participants were mentored and judged by photographers Pubarun Basu and Bisakha Dutta
