“What a wonderful start to IICP’s 50th year. We are truly grateful to Oindrilla and Usha for this memorable and enjoyable evening. The spirit of IICP was so evident with the enthusiastic participation of the IICP team, students and staff, and the audience. An example of inclusion... that is the way forward,” said Dr Sudha Kaul, the founding member of IICP (extreme right).

Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy (IICP) embarked on its 50th year on February 2 and the celebration was special as the legendary Usha Uthup marked the occasion with a concert at Prinsep Memorial ground and she was briefly joined by kids from IICP. The singer and the kids jammed to songs like Ekla cholo, Side by Side and Yeh dosti. The immensely talented kids, who are otherwise tagged “differently abled”, showed how music is universal and creativity can emerge from anywhere. The kids shared their excitement about performing with Usha Uthup, sharing the stage with her and how music has healed them and pulled them out of darkness. The IICP team and the audience were on an emotional rollercoaster. The singer rounded off her concert with a solo performance of songs like Skyfall and Stand by Me.
