Kolkata theatre-group Hypokrites is back after a hiatus with their new play Tobe Tai, directed by Susnato Bhattacherjee.
The play, adapted from Nobel laureate Italian dramatist and writer Luigi Pirandello’s story Right you are (if you think so), will be staged on February 19 at Gyan Manch. It will be the group’s 30th production.

The cast boasts of several established actors, including Satyam Bhattacharya, who played the main character in Anirban Bhattacharya-directed Ballabhpurer Roopkotha; Anindya Sain; Saswati Sinha; Moumita Gupta Sharma; Jit Das, Ninnisha Talukdar; Avery Singha Roy and Susnato Bhattacherjee.

Belonging to the suspense genre, the play delves into perspectives and representation of truth. The story is about a family that moves into a locality full of prying neighbours. The narrative revolves around the neighbours’ failure to understand the relationship between a couple and an old lady renting two different apartments in the same locality. The neighbours grow suspicious of the behaviour of the trio and their repeated attempts to understand the dynamics between them fall flat.
Hypokrites has been an integral part of the Bengali theatre circuit and has performed noteworthy plays such as Chairs, Conditions Apply, God's Toilet, In Love?, Amra Bangali Jati, Bhojo Gourango Kotha, Priya Cafe and 16 Pata.
The group went beyond the stage with street plays such as Media, Black and White, and Hatyare, and has even ventured into intimate theatre.
