It’s that time of the year again when the pleasant chill in the air meets the warm aroma of roast dinners and cinnamon. The Christmas Brunch by the poolside in association with The Telegraph, at Hyatt Regency Kolkata, on the afternoon of December 24, featured both with a side of classic pop songs. The brunch spread included dishes from different cuisines all over the world. Western cuisines such as French and Italian were coupled with Asian pockets of chaat and dim sums. There was a live teppanyaki counter as well as a live pasta counter. There were the seasonal classic Christmas roasts — Butterball Turkey and Roasted Pork Belly along with the classic accompaniments of mashed potatoes, baked string beans and bread pudding. The buffet also included familiar favourites like Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani, Butter Chicken, and other Indian dishes. The desserts were a colourful affair — Creme Brulee, Butterscotch Budino, Mascarpone and Strawberry Trifle as well as a selection of Christmas specials like the Marzipan Plum Cake and Christmas cake and two kinds of Chocolate Yuletide Logs.

The strains of familiar favourites featuring a series of covers of English pop classics including the likes of Stevie Wonder and John Denver filled the air. The winter afternoon felt warm with the laughter of families reuniting in the holiday season. The Telegraph was there to soak it all in.
