In what is being claimed as a ground-breaking initiative for safe disposal and recycling of outdated industrial machinery in factories, Hulladek Recycling, a leading waste management company, has recently launched Project Vishwakarma.

The project entails creating awareness on sustainable waste management among manufacturers and factory owners about responsible disposal of hazardous waste to improperly discarded equipment preventing it from entering the environment. It would also address West Bengal’s growing e-waste challenges and thereby reduce environmental impact.

The initiative was unveiled by Abhas Sultania, managing director, Frontech Private Limited, Ankit Agarwal, general manager, GTPL KCBPL, Indroneel Goho, president and CEO, Magpet Polymers Pvt Ltd, and Sumitro Nag, the group chief operating officer, Dey’s Medical Stores Ltd in the presence of Nandan Mall, the founder and CMD of Hulladek Recycling.

Through this new project, Hulladek has tied up with Emami Ltd, Diamond Beverages Pvt Ltd, Frontech Private Limited, GTPL KCBPL, Magpet Polymers Pvt Ltd and Dey’s Medical to manage the proper recycling and disposal of the waste in compliance with the E-Waste Management Rules set by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Our goal is to foster a more sustainable and environmentally conscious industrial landscape

Elaborating on the initiative, Nandan Mall said: “Project Vishwakarma is an initiative that emphasises the safe and responsible disposal of electronic devices and machinery, aligning with the principles celebrated during Vishwakarma Puja. The objective of this project is to collaborate with organisations to facilitate the responsible collection and recycling of e-waste generated from factories and offices. Through Project Vishwakarma, we will drive behavioural change across the industrial sector, educating businesses about the hazards of improper waste disposal and the long-term benefits of recycling. Our goal is to foster a more sustainable and environmentally conscious industrial landscape.”

The logistics of waste collection and processing from factories typically involves a structured process where Hulladek Recycling coordinates direct pick-up services for the industrial e-waste. Once collected, the waste is transported in vehicles to their Material Recycling Facility, ensuring compliance with environmental safety standards. At these facilities, the waste is segregated, dismantled and then channelised to authorised recyclers for recovery of precious metals, disposal and treatment.

Hulladek also tracks the entire waste flow to ensure transparency and compliance with regulations, contributing to sustainable factory operations and waste refurbishing and reusing old machinery would contribute to the circular economy and minimising waste generation in the industrial sector would help to have a safe environment for the years to come. We also like to promote recycling to recover valuable materials, thereby reducing the environmental impact of industrial e-waste,” added the founder and CMD of Hulladek Recycling.

Hulladek expects to process approximately 2,000 metric tonnes of electronic and electrical waste by the end of the financial year 2024-25. To scale the project pan-India, Hulladek will expand its collection network across regions and form strategic partnerships with both government bodies and private players to boost public awareness and responsible disposal.

Project Vishwakarma will bring sustainability to the common people

“We will be promoting sustainability within our industry. As part of Project Vishwakarma with Hulladek, we will be placing bins everywhere, which takes sustainability out to the common man. So people understand that you don’t have to throw a bottle on the road, you have to put it in this bin. So, when you get that initiation, then everybody will work towards sustainability. Now, sustainability has remained something for companies to do but we have to take it to the common man. So with Project Vishwakarma, we will go to the common man,” said Indroneel Goho, president & CEO, Magpet Polymers Pvt Ltd, while speaking about the sustainability measures being taken through Hulladek’s new project.

Speaking about the reason behind partnering with Hulladek on Project Vishwakarma and the change it could bring to West Bengal’s e-waste management, Ankit Agarwal, the general manager of GTPL KCBPL, said: “I came across Hulladek Recycling as a solution provider when there was a problem that needed to be solved or else I would have ignored them. So I feel this event would definitely raise awareness in the first place. Secondly, all the other people who are doing something about it need to be celebrated. If they are doing something that is not celebrated, there’s no motivation for them to continue doing this. I think taking action towards reducing this will have a different effect on them, eventually reducing the societal and the environmental impact of waste in West Bengal.”

There is a problem to be solved here and that is why we are on board with Hulladek for Project Vishwakarma

Project Vishwakarma is set to deliver significant environmental benefits, including reduced landfill waste, pollution, and carbon footprints, while promoting resource conservation. During the festive season, Hulladek will expedite e-waste collection services to meet the increased volume of waste from de-cluttering and clean-ups, helping businesses and households dispose of electronics responsibly for a cleaner, healthier environment.
