To celebrate the festive season, Holiday Inn Kolkata went “vocal for local” and launched a Santa’s Chariot. The chariot began its journey from the hotel and will travel in and around New Town area to distribute gifts and goodies amongst the children. It will cover places including City Centre New Town, Eco Park, New Town Big Bazaar and Spencer’s New Town, till December 31.
Actress Sayantani Guhathakurta, with the children from Mukti NGO inaugurated the Christmas Tree and unveiled the chariot at the hotel on December 20. Later, kids from BNG Institute of Hotel Management put up a performance of Christmas carols.
The hotel created a Christmas Tree made out of 7kg of raw jute. The idea behind a jute Christmas Tree was to celebrate the Bengal’s culture and handcraft industry. “We are a country of people rich in skills, knowledge, handwork, and zestful attitude. In every home, there is a creator, an innovator waiting for an opportunity. So we have taken an initiative to rewind, renew and restart our homemade, handmade, products of international standards,” says Prateek Mohan, operation manager.
