Green Festival was all about wellness and a green way of life

From yoga sessions to hands-on gardening experiences and insightful talks on healthy living, the event offered a holistic approach to fostering a healthier lifestyle

The Green Festival, organised by Blues Organic in association with t2, recently held its sixth edition. A diverse audience came together to explore a world of wellness and sustainability through a multitude of fun as well as informative activities. From yoga sessions to hands-on gardening experiences and insightful talks on healthy living, the event offered a holistic approach to fostering a healthier lifestyle. The event was also supported by the Rotary Club of Calcutta Visionaries Trust, Jagriti, Upnetra Optical Lens, and Doctor’s Choice.

The event kicked off by providing all attendees with essential materials and DIY kits to grow their own microgreens. Vartika Agarwalla led the opening session with basic yoga, setting the tone for what was to come. Shashvat Dhandhania had a live cooking demonstration focused on kodo millets, showcasing both gas and non-gas cooking methods. With 2023 being the International Year of Millets (as declared by the United Nations), attendees were delighted to know more about this superfood.

"In 2018, I came up with the idea of The Green Festival. I felt like city people were really deprived of a greener way of life and actively inhaled polluted air. My main motivation behind this event is to let people know that they can grow all produce organically and practise sustainability in their homes. It is a myth that you cannot follow good and healthy processes every day. The response to this event was amazing and there are people on our waitlist, already wanting to come to our next Green Festival! People who are regular at my events have said that each one of them is different and there are no two events which are the same,” said Shubha Singhania, founder, Blues Organic and the curator for The Green Festival.

Interesting sessions

Shubha Singhania’s Grow Your Microgreens session busted the myth that growing your learnt the key tips as they followed along with their grow-your-own kits, and gathered loads of nutritional and health-related insights. The interactive session was both interesting and informative.

(L-R) “I really enjoyed attending this festival. Although it is not my first time here, some of the activities here were really unique and I enjoyed it a lot,” said Samvidha Bagaria, head of food production, Nonna’s Cookies.

“Although I have been to other events organised by Blues Organic, this has been especially fun due to the various interactive sessions and activities. The vegetableplucking activity was especially fun,” said Puja Parmanandka, owner, Tasty Rides.

“This was my first time at such an event! I loved the vegetable plucking event the most. I had a lot of fun collecting the veggies!” said 7-year old Aahan Sanghi.

Healthy bites

A range of delicious and healthy dishes accompanied guests throughout the festival. On the menu, there was a warm sweet corn soup, rice and a veggie-filled Thai green curry, freshly made quinoa salad, and fudgey, chocolatey brownies!
