He came, he saw, he conquered! Shah Rukh Khan engaged in a personal tete-a-tete with a few lucky t2 readers and die-hard SRK fans in Mumbai recently. For winners of the t2xDunki contest — t2 being a media partner of the Rajkumar Hirani film — it was a dream-come-true moment. Back in Calcutta, they shared their magical experience with t2.
SHEENU MEHRA
Meeting Shah Rukh Khan Sir was a dream-come-true moment for me. I had to pinch myself to make sure that the occasion was indeed real. King Khan was welcomed by cheers, whistles and claps. The whole crowd at Yash Raj Films in Mumbai, where the meet-and-greet session was organised, went crazy by his mere presence.
When the opportunity finally came to meet him on stage, the moment didn’t sink in. I exchanged a few words with him, shook hands and got pictures clicked. Since my teenage days, I have been making an album of his and it was my wish to show it to him and get his autograph. His staff was very kind and they helped fulfil my dream.
That moment on stage with him was something words won’t be able to justify. It was a surreal experience in the truest sense. Also, I must mention that the meet-and-greet event was organised beautifully at YRF with lavish high tea for everyone. This once-in-a-lifetime moment wouldn’t have been possible without t2. Thank you t2 for making this happen.
ARKA SEN
I have been a hardcore Shah Rukh Khan fan all my life and have dreamt of meeting him one day. As he would gladly say: “Agar kisi cheez ko poorey dil se chaho toh poori kaynaat usey tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hain.” That’s exactly what Team t2 did for me. It was an absolute honour to be there on stage and get to meet and shake hands with my dream, my idol: The Shah Rukh Khan! I will never forget this day for the goosebumps it gave me, for this once-in-a-lifetime experience and for such great hospitality and an amazing coordinator who helped me all along. I thank Team t2 for making my dream come true.
SOUMILEE MITRA
To recount the entire episode of meeting THE SHAH RUKH KHAN, I can only start by saying — Alexa, play ‘Ankhon mein teri’.’ from Om Shanti Om. I could finally relate to one of the most famous scenes of my all-time go-to SRK movie. At that moment, I realised what Om must have felt while meeting Shantipriya. I felt the same, if not more.
The way he showed up and charmed everyone with his kind and charismatic personality touched my heart. In my head, the interaction I had with SRK lasted for hours and how I wished I could pause the clock! There are certain memories which we can never forget, and this is the one that I will always cherish. I can’t thank the t2 team enough for making this dream come true. Even now as I look at my pictures with SRK, my heart sings: ‘Chahe jisey duur se duniya woh mere kareeb hai’.
SHASHWAT MOOKHERJEE
Meeting Shah Rukh Khan has been one of the most memorable moments of my life. My earliest memory of watching a film in the theatres was his Don when I was just four. Since then, I have harboured a deep desire to meet him. My passion for films and the filmmaking process was ignited by this singular inspiration: Shah Rukh Khan. When the opportunity to meet him materialised after 17 years of anticipation, the experience was nothing short of surreal. Standing beside the legend, even if only for a brief interaction, was a profound moment.
My film team and I had crafted a video for Shah Rukh Khan themed ‘Even AI Can’t Replace SRK.’ It is a playful, three-minute skit using AI. But I realised that even advanced technology falls short of capturing his essence.
When I found myself on stage, Shah Rukh Khan engaged with me, expressed his gratitude for the video and assured me he would watch it. His ability to make one feel seen and heard, even in a brief meet-and-greet session, was remarkable. It affirmed the numerous accounts I had read about his exceptional attentiveness and presence.
SUBHADEEP BASU
A very big thank you to Team t2 for giving me this opportunity. You have made my dream come true. I grew up watching Shah Rukh Khan’s movies and imitating his dance steps and signature poses even before I could comprehend what they meant. The closest I have ever come to him was during IPL matches at the ‘B’ Block in Eden Gardens and when he came to my school to promote Happy New Year.
The opportunity to meet him in person and interact with him made it clear why he is admired by people across different generations. His wit, charm and warmth are unparalleled and had the packed crowd mesmerised. I was awestruck and had goosebumps when we shook hands and started talking.
RADHIKA SEN
Meeting SRK was not something I had imagined and the experience was surreal. When he first came on stage, he mentioned that he was a little unwell but that did not show at all as he greeted everybody with a huge smile. He was very accommodating and though there were many people, he spoke to everybody and made sure to acknowledge each individual. When we went to take pictures, it was a bit rushed but he kindly obliged to take a picture separately with me and my friend. He was lovely and gentle and made sure to hug and shake hands with each one of us. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
