Glimpses from CC&FC’s fun football competition

The event presented a fantastic display of passion, skill and sporting spirit

Fun Football Season V was organised at the Calcutta Cricket and Football Club (CC&FC) for all the members who no longer play for the club. The football matches for this version of the game have a seven-a-side format, with the number of teams decided depending on the total number of participants.

A brainchild of members Bikram Das and Atul Chaturvedi, the competition is planned and arranged by Atul Chaturvedi. An extremely popular event on the club calendar, it featured almost 50 participants this year, and is soon expected to become an annual fixture.

Initially organised only for women players, this format now consists of both male and female players from the age of 15 to 75. The season coincides with the start of the main football season in the beginning of May and ends mid-September.

This year, four teams took part in Fun Football, with a mini one-day tournament held on September 25 to mark the end of the season. Every participant was given a jersey and a trophy at the prize distribution, which was followed by cocktails and dinner.
