The Circular Railway of Sealdah division has completed 40 years of operation. The Circular Railway was conceptualised by the ministry of railways to ease up the prevailing transportation hindrance in the City of Joy. It started its maiden service on August 15, 1984 covering a distance of 44km approximately through 21 stations connecting north and south suburban to Kolkata
