Shaadi by Marriott Bonvoy is back! And it’s glitzier than ever. The third edition of the curated wedding show is all set to be held on August 7 (Sunday) and will be hosted by Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata at the Ozone Convention Centre. The event is set to line up all the quintessential elements of a big, fat Indian shaadi, be it fashion, beauty or food. This year, the event will showcase Kolkata-based couturier Pallavi Poddar’s new wedding collection as well as a luxury menswear line-up by Ratul and Kommal Sood’s label, Burlingtons of Calcutta.

“The bridal couture collection that we will be launching tomorrow is called Saaz, which means melody. We’ve used a lot of different colours this time, along with a variety of silhouettes, from traditional and modern to experimental,” shares Poddar.

Mustard and rust are the two colours that Poddar has been working with, for her new line. The designer believes that while brides love experimental looks for their sangeet or mehendi events, they opt for traditional options for their wedding day. Her bridal couture line has a variety of engagement gowns, saris, sangeet lehengas and wedding lehengas.

Celebrity drape artist Dolly Jain, who has draped bridal saris for A-listers like Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt, will be conducting a sari-draping workshop, as part of the event.

“People have stopped wearing saris because they think that it is too cumbersome, and I’m here to make it as easy as possible for them. We’ll be exploring two unique styles of drapes at the event,” says Jain.

Jain believes that when it comes to bridal saris, comfort is key, along with the right coordination between elements of the bridal look, be it make-up, jewellery or wardrobe.

Celebrity make-up artist Arti Nayar will be holding a beauty masterclass focusing on bridal make-up. Expect to find some practical hacks on how to look flawless on your wedding day.

“Brides are leaning towards a minimal approach this season. They want to look ethereal and fresh. They’re experimenting more. I will be focussing on how brides can accentuate their best features and how they can create an impression with soft and dewy beauty looks,” Nayar tells us.

Nayar reveals she loves using L’Oréal gel liner, NARS’s Dragon Girl red lipstick, Dainty blush by MAC Cosmetics and Colorbar’s brow pencil on brides, and never travels without these!
