Dance, music and fashion show mark EIILM’S academio-cultural fest

Students of first year belonging to various departments of UG and PG participated in Apavrinu-Vayam

The fest was conducted by first-year students of all departments across undergraduate and postgraduate streams. The fun-filled day began with the lighting of the lamp by RP Banerjee, director-chairman and alumnus Arnab Basu, head of Human Resource CEVA Logistics. This was followed by a series of academic presentations by first-year MBA and UG students. The topics varied from personal to professional growth

Students also showcased their creativity through handmade posters on various relevant socio-economic topics like climate change, global warming, economic crisis etc.

Focusing on the importance of such events post-pandemic, RP Banerjee, director-chairman of EIILM Kolkata said, “These events are an important part of the curriculum. Students learn life lessons from such initiatives and during the pandemic, everything happened in the limited digital space. We let students do things on their own. They are organising it and the faculty is only there for support. They can’t be good managers or professionals until they take up responsibility, make mistakes and learn from them.”

Students showcased their singing and dancing talents in the cultural programme segment. Several shook a leg or sang different western, classical and Bollywood numbers. The segment began with a Ganesh Vandana and ended with an enthralling Mahishasur Mardini dance performance

The students and faculty members cheered from the audience as the stage was set on fire by the talent of various students. Followed by the melodious singing and energetic dance performances, a fashion show was organised. Students walked the ramp showcasing attire of various professions, Indian cultures, Durga Puja and more

Dr Urwas Jaiswal, Mrs Asia World 2022 walked the ramp with the students and appreciated their spirit. She said, “I am overwhelmed to see the students’ zeal. The talent and energy of the youth amuses me.”

The evening was star-studded as the cast for the upcoming Sonada series film, Karnasubarner Guptodhan—Abir Chatterjee, Ishaa Saha and Arjun Chakrabarty visited the Taalkutir Convention Centre to interact with the students. Singers Jyoti Sharma, Raktim Chowdhury, Samragee also made the audience dance with their performances
