Cosplayers on the 'prowl', Kolkata gets its first Cosplay Award, prom night

In several categories, winners were chosen on the basis of their costume-making, accessories skills

For the first time in the city, anime comic lovers organised a two-day special Cosplay Award and a prom night at ICCR, Kolkata on February 18 and 19.  A group of four senior cosplayers and anime lovers formed a group called Masqueraid El amor in order to spread the cosplay culture in the city and also organized the two-day event. The first day of the event was dedicated to the Cosplay Award.  Speaking to My Kolkata, Baishakhi Das, a member of Masqueraid El amor, said “Such an award ceremony is taking place for the first time in Kolkata. We asked the participants to compete in seven categories like costume-making and accessories etc. Winners were chosen based on their work in the past one year.” The second day was about a special dance competition and a prom night. A number of stalls selling collectibles, posters and T-shirts were set up at the venue and fans were ecstatic. “I bought this Goku T-shirt. You don’t usually get these things unless you order them online, but then you may face size issues etc. “These gatherings are best for such things,” said Sreejoni Sarkar, a visitor.
