On the eve of Poila Baisakh, Caravan Concerts in association with The Telegraph ushered in Nava Varsha on a musical note at the Caravan Cafe in Salt Lake, Sector I. With renowned artistes like Gautam Das Baul, Porshia Sen and Bachospati Chakraborty in the house, the evening became the perfect way to usher in the Bengali New Year. The Caravan Concerts began at 7pm in the evening in the oh-so-cosy café beside City Centre Salt Lake. People gathered with high expectations from the artistes and they weren’t disappointed. They immersed themselves in folk, fusion, Bengali retro songs and world music and couldn’t help but dance along at the end, when the jamming was at its peak.

The evening was taken a notch higher when singer Durnibar Saha walked in and joined the jam with the artistes present. April 14 (the day of Caravan Concerts) happened to be his birthday and having him in the house got extra special. People from all walks of life were present at the concert to immerse themselves in an evening of melody. They complemented it with some delish food served at the cafe. Glimpses:
