OBSTACLES
Chopsticks: For this challenge, participants had to traverse through a number of poles placed at different heights.
Plankathon: Planks might always seem to be difficult but especially when you have to do it in this position, by balancing yourself on two parallel wooden walls while you are moving.
Tri-oopmh: To triumph at this stage of the course, one had to go through three activities at once: sliding a weight through a monkey bar, crossing over a set of dangling Olympic rings, and swinging through horizontal bars.
CurVenture: A lesson in climbing, this one had participants climb up a curved wall before they could get to the next obstacle.
Log-a-Rhythm: Starting off easy, this obstacle had participants navigate a certain area while balancing on wooden logs kept in a criss-cross manner.
U’Net’ed: Designed to help players catch their breath, one had to walk through a 60ft wobbly net bridge at this obstacle.
Sand-out: A test of strength and teamwork, a sand-filled barrel was pulled to and fro for success in this round.
Gong-Ho: To end with a bang, literally, challengers had to pull a log and strike a half-ton weighted metal gong.
ORGANISER SPEAK
“We are the first to bring this kind of an event to the city and with every edition, we are getting more and more interest and participants. In fact, we had a waiting list this time because we could not accommodate everyone who wanted to come. We have safety measures at every turn to ensure everyone can have a fun time. They can come to challenge themselves and understand their fitness levels in more practical setups,” said Manju Bangur, founder, 212 Degrees.
WINNERS SPEAK
“We are a group of four strong women who work out regularly. We wanted to challenge ourselves and see how fit we are. So, we decided to experience a different Sunday altogether. We felt like we are on top of the world when we won. We got a lot of love from friends and family which was overwhelming. We honestly did not participate to win, we wanted to put in our best effort and have a good time! The exuberance of the place was enthralling. The hurdle setup, music, kids’ zone, food and of course, the location were all on point. Kudos to the entire team for their effort. Looking forward to the next year now!” said Sriya Manihar (right) who won in the female teams category with her friends.
“I have been training since I was 2 years old, I started participating in competition/events since last year. My dad told me about 10tackles a few days ago and i found the format of the event very interesting which made me participate. Win or lose, I feel good about myself and that is what is important. Nevertheless, it is always a great feeling to win especially when you are the youngest,” said Varchasv Agarwala, winner, Happy Hour Junior Category.
“10tackles is the talk of the town and having missed out in the previous years was a bit of a downer. It is my first time this year and if I am not busy next time, I will definitely come. Winning is always sweet, I wasn’t even expecting to win , now I want to do even better next year! It was certainly very well organised. We were in awe of the set up, it looked quite daunting, loved the obstacles, and it is certainly not for the faint-hearted I say, but quite doable if one is fairly fit and active,” said Sandeep Vyas, along with his team, who was the 1st Runner-Up in the Mixed Gender Team Categories.
