Calcutta Club celebrated Father’s Day in style with Bakery Sundae Funday in association with t2, featuring a range of exciting competitions and activities for both children and adults alike.
The festivities kicked off with an inspiring opening address by club chairman Billy Bose, setting the tone for the day’s celebrations. To mark the significance of the occasion, a cake-cutting ceremony was held, symbolising the joyous spirit of fatherhood and family bonds.
Members of the club, along with their families, gathered to take part in the daylong festival, its highlight being a series of competitions designed to engage participants of all ages. The first competition featured a cupcake-making contest, showcasing the creativity and baking skills of children aged three to 16 years. The young participants were divided into different age categories to ensure fair competition.
Next was the eagerly awaited ice cream eating competition. Participants of all ages indulged in a battle of taste and speed as they raced against the clock to devour their ice cream sundaes. The primary objective of the competition was to finish the ice cream in the shortest time possible, crowning the fastest contestant as the victor.
Adding a touch of warmth and emotion was the Daddy Cool competition. Fathers or grandfathers accompanied by their children or grandchildren formed groups of two or three. They took the stage and captivated the audience with their performances, which included heartfelt speeches about their respective roles as grandfathers, fathers or children. This segment provided a beautiful opportunity for participants to express their love and appreciation for their family members.
Excitement reached its maximum limit with the highly-anticipated treasure hunt. Members of the club engaged in a thrilling quest, hunting for clues strategically placed throughout the premises. The challenge tested their wit, teamwork and problem-solving abilities as they competed against one another to claim the coveted first position.
After the competitions, it was time for a delightful musical experience. Band Songbola entertained members with their soulful tunes and foot-tapping rhythms. Their performance added an extra layer of enjoyment to the event, ensuring a memorable Father’s Day celebration.
Bakery Sundae Funday truly captured the essence of Father’s Day, allowing families to come together and create lasting memories. The event’s diverse range of competitions catered to various age groups and interests, ensuring that everyone had a chance to participate and enjoy themselves.
“Earlier the club would just host an ice cream carnival on Father’s Day, and there used to be an ice cream stall by Metro Keventers who are still there with us. So basically people used to come, buy ice cream and go home. Now, with the Bakery Sundae Funday concept, we not only have more varieties of ice creams and sundaes available but there are other food stalls also. The atmosphere this year is fantastic with the music, food and all the contests and prizes. The main idea is to have a mini summer carnival and make it fun for all even though it is very hot. So our day is all about the family and friends having a good time together,” Calcutta Club chairman Billy Bose said.
