The Bengal Rowing Club (BRC) presents JK Tyre Car Rally in association with t2 had the club’s members all agog to participate in the establishment’s signature event. This rally has happened for more than 25 years now. This time it was called Get Geared To Play Ko-nopoly. Each car had teams who had to decipher clues about Calcutta landmarks and visit them. The winner was the team that could do that in the least possible time.
The participants were handed over their route clues at the time of flagoff and they had to figure out the route as they went
Said Manish Rungta, president, BRC: “The JK Tyre Car Rally has been going on in the club for more than 25 years and is one of our signature events. The members along with their partners participate in the car rally and it’s a good experience for them. Actually, more than a car rally it is a trasure hunt. We give them clues and they collect the badges from there and they come back. And whoever does it in the least time, wins it. It’s a very fun event for the club and the participants.”
The event is managed by BRC’s Entertainment Committee, whose chairman Naveen Bhatter, said: “The BRC JK Tyre Car Rally is an event for which we start planning around 60 days prior to the occasion. The event is open to members along with their guests. We give them clues for certain landmarks of Calcutta which they have to solve and reach the spot and there we have our marshals from whom they get a stamp done so that we know that they have reached that place. It’s not a race. It’s just a sort of fun event.”
The clues for the rally route were innovatively modelled on the popular Monopoly board game and called Ko-nopoly as the rally was being held in Kolkata.
